On our recent trip to NYC, we stayed in the Theater District and stayed mostly in the area watching shows. We found pizza shops all over the area, but we also wanted to sit down and enjoy a hot, authentic, Italian meal. We found some wonderful Italian restaurants while we were in town. Here are some of the best Italian restaurants in The Theater District (including Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen) that are definitely worth checking out.
Carmine’s Italian Restaurant
This iconic restaurant has been serving up traditional Italian fare for over 30 years. Carmine’s is known for its huge portions and it has a very lively atmosphere. It’s a great spot for sharing with friends or family. Their spaghetti and meatballs are a must-try dish, as are their signature garlic bread and tiramisu.

Daniela’s Trattoria
So, last, but not least is Daniela’s Trattoria. This is my daughter’s favorite Italian restaurant in the Theater District. We ate here 3 times on our last trip! It is located near Moulin Rouge, Parade, Life of Pi, and Bad Cinderella (2023). The food is fantastic and the service is friendly and fast. I don’t think we ever waited more than 5 minutes for anything – drinks, bread, entrees, dessert. We never felt rushed but we also never worried about being late to a Broadway show because of slow service!
