The Exciting Mountain Coaster in Pigeon Forge, TN You Can’t Miss!
|We have ridden most of the mountain coasters in The Smoky Mountains. They are so much fun! On our last trip to the Smokies, we rode the Rocky Top Mountain Coaster in Pigeon Forge, TN. My kiddos said that it was their favorite mountain coaster. It lasts about 9 minutes and has 4 uplifts! And, they could control the speed so they could go as fast or slowly as they wanted.
In the photo above, you can see that there is plenty of seating outside. You can pick a bench at one of the picnic tables or a rocking chair and wait to see your family/friend make their way down the mountain coaster. This is also a great spot to snap a photo or video.
This is one of the newer coasters in the Smokies and it is very popular. You purchase your tickets and then get in line. There may be a wait but they play fun music which helps the time go by quickly.

The Ride
We really liked the Rocky Top Mountain Coaster, and apparently, we aren’t the only ones. This coaster won the Traveler’s Choice 2022 from TripAdvisor. It also won 1st place as the Best Mountain Coaster in the Best of Pigeon Forge in 2022
Just a few tips: Arrive early for a shorter line/wait. If you really love mountain coasters, you probably want to ride this one during the day AND at night. They are two totally different experiences – and both are amazing. There are bathrooms here, and you might want to visit them before you get in line.
We were told at the ticket counter that if we came back to ride again on the same day, we could get in for 1/2 price. So, we could ride two times, back to back. Or, we could ride once during the day and again at night. *According to the website, adults and youth can ride a 2nd time for $9 (1/2 the price for adults).

This looks like so much fun! I’ve heard so many great things about Pigeon Forge, and it is nice that there is no shortage of things to do.
Yes, we love it there! I’ve been going since I was a kid (when dinosaurs roamed the mountains) and I keep going back because it’s so beautiful and there’s so much to do. But, I also like to sit in a cabin by the fireplace and read a book. It’s so peaceful. And, if you get a cabin with a tin roof and it rains – oh, that’s when you take the best naps!! So, you can do as much or as little as you like in the Smokies.
Sounds like an adventure and so glad you all enjoyed it! The Rocky Top Mountain Coaster is something I know my children would love as well
Thank you, sweet friend! I honestly don’t know who had more fun – the kids or the grown-ups!
I have never heard of this ride before, but it looks like it’d be such a great experience especially with seeing the gorgeous scenery within nature. I will have to check this out one day!
I think it’s a relatively new mountain coaster in the Smokies. With it being 9 minutes long and the 4 uplifts, you get to see some lovely views.
I like that they could control the speed. This does look like fun!
Yes! It was my son’s first mountain coaster and he liked that he could use the brakes if he wanted to. But, once he got going, he didn’t even use the brakes!
The ride looks so awesome! I love mountain coasters SO SO much! They’re super fun to me. Your post really made me want to visit the Smokies again.
This mountain coaster was a lot of fun – it was the longest one we’ve tried and took us up 4 uplifts!
I’ve been on a lot of roller coasters at amusement parks, but never on a mountain coaster that goes through such pretty scenery! This looks like great fun for everyone.
It was so much fun!
