Paula Deen's Lumberjack Feud Show & Adventure Park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

We found ourselves with a beautiful, sunny day in Pigeon Forge and the kiddos wanted to do something exciting. We had driven past Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud and Adventure Park a few times, seeing brave people take off on the zipline coaster. Of course, the kids wanted to try out this adventure!

Here is what’s Available at LumberJack Square:

Included in Lumberjack Adventure Admission

Lumberjack Square has 4 different areas full of lumberjack-themed activities.

The LumberJack Adventure includes:

1. The Flying Ox – – This is what happens when a zipline and a roller coaster have a baby. You’ll fly over LumberJack Square as you swing side to side. This is a very unique activity – the first of its kind in the world.

2. Timber Towers – Find your inner Spiderman with two 80-foot free-fall jumps

3. The High Woodsmen Challenge – A multi-level lumberjack-themed ropes course

4. Logger Sports – Compete in your own Log Roll, Boom Run, and Speed Climb

The Flying Ox

Okay, first things first….After you select your package and pay, you will be sent upstairs. Here, you will fill out your waivers, get a helmet and gear, and learn a few rules. Mostly, you need to know that you can ride the zipline coaster twice. They also want you to stay in one area and do everything you want to do before moving on to another section of the complex.

My kiddos were given their harnesses and equipment based on their weight. Once they were fitted, they could head out to the Timber Towers to either ride the zipline coaster or do the free-fall bungee jump. There is a lot of stair climbing to get to the top of the Timber Towers – just letting you know!

Timber Towers

Zipline Coaster – The zipline coaster rushes forward and lets you swing side to side as you “fly” over Lumberjack Square. Instead of ziplining in a straight line, you will zip through twists and turns (and even have a few drops) – just like a roller coaster. This is a 1,000-foot-long ride that’s 80 feet up in the air

Timber Towers – Jump off the ledge (80 feet high) like Spiderman and feel the wind in your face as you free fall. As you make your way down, you will feel yourself slow down and you’ll be gently placed back on the ground.

Free Fall Jump at Twin Towers

The kiddos were securely harnessed for this free-fall activity. It’s like a gentle bungee jump with a soft landing at the end. My daughter says that the first few seconds were fast and exhilarating. Then, it feels like you are caught and slowly let down to the ground.

The High Woodsmen Challenge

The High Woodsmen Challenge is a multi-level obstacle course. It is kind of like a lumberjack-themed version of Ninja Warrior (just not as difficult). The entire course tests your abilities and balance as you face obstacles along the way. Safety measures are taken at all times. The middle level is completely netted, and when you get to the top level, you are connected to the course the entire time. This activity is for ages 5 and older.

Logger Sports

1. Log Roll – Here, you challenge your competition (brother, sister, friend, etc) to see who can stay on the log the longest.

2. Boom Run – Make it across the logs without falling into the water

3. Speed Climb – In this activity, you’ll see how fast you can climb to reach the top of the pole.

Keeping your balance as you “walk” across the logs is harder than it looks. One of the employees told us to try and walk across the logs like a crab – and it worked! You won’t fall in the water – you are harnessed the entire time!

My son says that the logs were very slippery but he was able to gain more control by shifting his weight. I saw other kids just run like gazelles across those logs – so I guess you just have to practice and see what works for you!

After the host introduces the Lumber Jacks and Lumber Jills, the high-energy Lumberjack family feud begins. There is a storyline to follow and some jokes scattered throughout. But the lumberjack skills are the true stars of the show. These lumberjacks use real chainsaws and axes in this competition. The Lumber Jacks and Jills are professional athletes that compete in physical challenges like the Boom Run, Spring Board Chop, and Double Buck.

This is a family-friendly show featuring lumberjack games and plenty of crowd interaction. There are opportunities where you can stand up and yell and maybe get a lumberjack cookie. During intermission, kiddos can come down to the front, learn some skills from real lumberjacks, and even be part of the show!

The Lumberjack Feud lasts about an hour and a half and features members of the McGraw and Dawson families. It is open year-round, rain or shine (heaters and blankets are provided on cold days). Always stay warm and dry in the covered seating area – even if it rains or snows.

Outside food and drinks are allowed and even encouraged while you watch the show. So bring in your pizza boxes and bags of burgers! You can also call their box office and ask about the restaurants at LumberJack Square that participate in their discount dinner offers.

You can buy tickets at the box office when you arrive at Lumberjack Feud in Pigeon Forge. We were visiting during the off-season and had no problems, but during the busier seasons, the Lumberjack Feud Show can sell out. Getting your ticket in advance guarantees your spot and you also get the day and time you want.
