Platter’s Chocolate Factory (Niagara Falls, New York)
|We had some wonderful weather while we were visiting Niagara Falls (New York, USA side), but we did find ourselves with one rainy day. Someone recommended that we might enjoy visiting Platter’s and they were right!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Platter’s Chocolate Factory! The factory/store is located in a corner of the historic Wurlitzer Building (known for their piano jukebox creations). This chocolate heaven is actually located in North Tonawanda – about 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls State Park.
The store itself is very warm and cozy with plenty of seating. In the cooler months, you can find a fire going in the fireplace. It’s so nice to sit in a comfy leather chair with a cappuccino and slice of cake.
We honestly spend a few hours here one rainy afternoon – watching chocolates being made, shopping for candy, drinking coffee, eating ice cream, and talking around the fireplace.
Factory Tours
If the factory is in production, you can watch them make their chocolates. There are several large windows where you can watch chocolates and popcorn creations being made.
For a more behind-the-scenes look, the factory does offer guided tours where you can get an inside view of their operations. These tours are for groups of 20, but the staff is very nice and will allow you to join an existing group if there is one touring when you visit. The tours are scheduled in advance, so be sure to call ahead to see if there is a tour you can join. (See address, phone, and website information at end of the post).
Platter’s Cafe (Ice Cream, Sweets, & Coffee)
Platter’s serve Perry’s Ice Cream and it is absolutely delicious. There are several ice cream flavors and fruit toppings. They also offer sugar-free ice cream. Platter’s cafe offers milkshakes, floats, banana splits, and ice cream sundaes. The possibilities are endless!
Other options on the Cafe Menu:
- Coffee and Specialty Coffee Drinks
- Tea – Hot & Iced
- Bubble Tea
- Smoothies
- Lemonade
See the full cafe menu HERE.
The Chocolate Store
With so many choices, it can be hard to know what to get to snack on or give as a souvenir. You can ask for a sample!
If you’re going to try one thing at Platter’s, you might want to try the local favorite – sponge candy (The chocolate-covered sponge candy bars are only $1.95). Or, ask for a free sample to try before you buy. The sponge candy itself is like a honey-flavored candy with the texture of a Butterfinger bar. It literally melts in your mouth.
Visiting and touring Platter’s is free, but if you have some candy-lovers and chocoholics in your groups, you will probably end up spending some money here. There are so many sweet goodies at Platter’s, and they are hard to pass up!
Gourmet Popcorn
In addition to the cookies, chocolates, ice cream, coffee, and other sweets, Platter’s offers a nice variety of popcorn. Our absolute favorites are the Caramel Popcorn and the Caramel Cashew Popcorn (even though these are also sweet). They also have other savory flavors like Cheddar Popcorn and Dill Popcorn.
Photo Booth Fun
I highly recommend visiting Platter’s while in Niagara – especially if you have a sweet tooth. It’s a lot of fun for the whole family and it’s a great place to pick up some (edible) souvenirs!

When I visit family in Buffalo, I love to tour this wonderful candyland!! Platters chocolate is amazing!
The sponge candy you brought us was so different and unique. Larry and I really liked it. I will plan on a side trip to Platters when we are there for Lindsey’s big day!
If I entered, I don’t think I would ever leave Platter’s Chocolate Factory! Every item you described as well as your pictures made my mouth water. In particular, I want to try their chocolate sponge cake, and their fudge, and popcorn, etc. As Niagara Falls is on my bucket list, while there I will ensure I stop by Platter’s Chocolate Factory.
