Twin Smokers BBQ – Atlanta, Georgia

We recently visited Atlanta for a family vacation and we really enjoy our dinner at Twin Smokers BBQ.

Twin Smokers cook both Texas and Kansas City style BBQ. One of the “Twin” smokers cooks Southern-style barbecue (Heritage pork butt, Springer Mountain chicken, pork ribs) and uses white oak as fuel and hickory wood for flavor. The other “twin” smoker cooks Texas-style barbecue (beef brisket, sausage, beef ribs) and uses post oak as fuel and mesquite wood for flavor. All of their meats are smoked daily.

The restaurant is tucked away on a side street near Centennial and Pemberton Place. It is a short walk from the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke, and Chik-fil-A Football Hall of Fame (about 5-10 minute walk).

You can park in the deck across the street at Hilton Garden Inn. (For up to 3 hours, on non-event days) and bring your parking ticket with you to the restaurant. They’ll put a validation sticker on it so that your parking will be free.

The Atmosphere

I loved the eclectic decor at Twin Smokers BBQ. All of the light fixtures were made from liquor bottles. We also enjoyed all of the 80’s jams that were playing while we were there.

The Food

I think my husband described the food at Four Smokers the best. He said it was like a potluck where everyone brings their best dishes. It’s an eclectic mix of flavors on your plate and everything is delicious.

My carnivore husband LOVED his meal. The meat was flavorful and perfectly cooked.

My favorites were the sides – everything was so flavorful and fresh. The sweet and tangy collard greens were my favorite. The waitress said they were cooked down slow with chunks of pork, garlic, onions, and apple cider vinegar -YUM!

The beans weren’t your traditional baked beans. They were pinto beans with onions, garlic, and garnished with cilantro. And the broccoli salad was a traditional recipe (this was my first time having it with cheese). Other sides include coleslaw, potato salad, mac n cheese, and seasonal sides.

My kids were bummed that this restaurant didn’t serve French Fries, but they do serve a kids meal with a choice of meat, side, drink, and a (HUGE) chocolate chip cookie or Rice Krispie Treat.

The Sauce

My family’s reviews were mixed when it came to the sauce. There was a nice variety of flavors and they were delicious. I think the consistency was thinner than some were used to. I thought the sauces were good – I’ll take BBQ sauce any way I can get it!

Each meal is served on a baking sheet with onion slices and fresh pickles.

Appetizers include wings, salad, Southern-style Pimento Cheese, Texas-style Brisket Chili, and cornbread

Twin Smokers also offers some great desserts. They have huge chocolate chip cookies and Rice Krispy treats for the kids (or kids at heart). They also serve Banana Pudding and a grown-up milkshake called Trouble Milkshake. This vanilla bean ice cream milkshake has Bulleit Bourbon in it.
