DoubleTree by Hilton – A Wonderful Place to Stay in Niagara Falls, NY USA
|We recently had a wonderful stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Niagara Falls. My stepdaughter actually had her wedding and reception here and we were able to spend a week in Niagara celebrating and vacationing.
This hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood in downtown Niagara right along the Niagara River. Everything Niagara has to offer was only a few minutes’ drive or walk from this hotel. We really liked the secluded feel of this hotel even though it was close to everything we wanted to do.
There are two things I really want when I stay at a hotel: cleanliness and friendliness. I have to say that DoubleTree exceeded my expectations on both. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. And, the entire hotel, including our room was always very clean.
Things to know about DoubleTree by Hilton:
- On-Site Dining – Parkway Prime Steakhouse & Lounge
- Heated Indoor Pool
- Gym/Workout Center
- Business Center
- 20 minutes from Buffalo Niagara International Airport
- Refrigerator in rooms
- Free WiFi
- Keyless Entree from Hilton App on phone (optional)
- And, most importantly…DoubleTree offers their famous chocolate chip cookies complimentary to their guests! Just ask for them at the front desk. Also, I noticed that coffee (and a variety of creamers) are offered in the lobby until about lunchtime – just in case you want coffee with your cookies!
- There is coffee in your room, but there is also coffee in the lobby if you don’t want to make it yourself or if you like flavored creamers.
DoubleTree Hilton at Niagara Falls – The Hotel
Our Room
We reserved a room with a king bed (pictured below) and we got an adjoining room with two queens next door for the kiddos. We had plenty of room and were very comfortable. I loved the beds – they were very cozy.
Our bathroom had a huge shower (no tub, but some rooms do have tubs) and it was perfect for us. We needed extra towels, called downstairs and within a few minutes had fresh warm towels. The staff was very nice and accommodating.
Keyless/Digital Key Option
We also had a keyless/digital entry option and I loved it. I have the worst habit of losing my room key (or someone else in the family has it), but I always have my phone with me. So, I mostly used my phone to open our room door. All you have to do is download the Hilton APP (I’m a Hilton girl so I already had the APP). Then, in the APP, you will see your reservation and the option to use your digital key. You are given instructions to hold the phone to the door and it will unlock. It’s pretty cool and easy to do.
Indoor Heated Pool
The DoubleTree has a heated indoor pool. Of course, my kiddos were thrilled. Usually, the first question they ask about a hotel is, “Does it have a pool?!?!?”. The pool could get a little crowded in the evenings, but my kiddos loved it because they always had someone to play pool volleyball with. It seemed to be less crowded during the day, especially in the mornings.
There is also a spa/jacuzzi/hot tub next to the pool. It was nice to soak in it after a long day of walking around Niagara. It was a popular spot but we all got a chance to enjoy it.
Parkway Prime
With all of the wedding festivities, we didn’t get to eat dinner at Parkway Prime but we did get to enjoy breakfast there. Everything we tried was wonderful! The kiddos did have lunch here and they enjoyed it as well.
My son is picky so he stuck with his eggs, toast, and juice. My daughter was in heaven with her Chocolate Chip Pancakes. One morning my husband got Steak and Eggs and another morning he ordered Vanilla French Toast. He raved about both dishes. I needed gluten-free options, so I ordered a loaded Veggie Omelet with Breakfast Potatoes. It was delicious and HUGE! One of our friends had the Onion Cheddar Biscuits with Sausage Gravy and he said it was wonderful!
We did have the rehearsal dinner in a private room at Parkway Prime and it was phenomenal. The theme was Buffalo so we had pizza, wings, salad, and Beef on Weck (a popular local dish). For dessert, we had cookies and brownies.
We had several guests that had celiac/gluten issues and Parkway Prime was very accommodating. The restaurant also catered for the wedding and the food was wonderful. If you ever get to try their stuffed mushrooms…trust me… they are fantastic.
Breakfast on the Terrace at Parkway Prime
The kiddos wanted to sleep late, so the hubs and I had a morning to ourselves. We decided to have breakfast at Parkway Prime on the terrace. It was such a beautiful morning!
I loved the morning breezes and the beautiful views of the Niagara River. It was a great way to start our day!
See Parkway Prime’s Breakfast Menu HERE. Lunch Menu HERE. Dinner Menu HERE. Dessert Menu HERE.
Parkway Prime is open 7 days a week and the atmosphere is pretty casual. Breakfast is served from 6 a.m. until 11 weekdays (until 12 on the weekends). Lunch is served until 4 p.m. all throughout the week, and the last seating for dinner is at 10 p.m. Take-out is available until 10:30 p.m. and the bar is open until 12 a.m.
Restaurants Nearby
Of course, if you’re in the mood for a specific cuisine or want a night out, there are many restaurants in Niagara Falls. Many you can walk to within a matter of minutes.
Here are some restaurants within walking distance of the hotel:
- Third Street Retreat (about a 5-minute walk)
- LaCucina De Momma Italian (about a 5-minute walk)
- Anchor Bar (home of original Buffalo Wings (10-15 walk)
- Hard Rock Cafe (10-15 minute walk)
You can see the full list of nearby restaurants HERE.
Shoreline Trail
One of my favorite things about staying at the Double Tree was having access to the Shoreline Trail. After a nice breakfast, I would get on the trail and walk over to Goat Island (I did have to cross the street once). It took me about 15 minutes to walk to Goat Island, but I stopped several times to enjoy the river and take photos. I think you could spend as little or as much time as you like on this lovely walk.
Along the path, I would watch as the Niagara river waters would grow stronger. There were a variety of birds playing in this area.
The Shoreline Trail is a continuous path along Lake Erie and the Niagara River. You can walk, run, or bike along this trail. I saw a family biking the trail from the hotel (see photo below).
As you walk along the trail, you see park benches placed along the way. Across from the benches are some cleared-out areas so you can see the river. I had a cup of coffee in my hand and there was a wonderful morning breeze blowing. I could not think of a better way to spend the morning than to sit here and enjoy the view.
Getting to Goat Island and Niagara State Park from Shoreline Trail
At some point, you will have the option to turn left on the trail and cross 2 bridges. This path will take you to Goat Island (which is where I usually walked). If you continue straight on the path, you will walk on to the Niagara Falls State Park, Niagara Falls Visitor Center, Maid of the Mist Entrance, and the Observation Deck.
One night, we all walked the path (and through the State Park and part of the city) to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner. After eating, we walked back through the Shoreline Trail and enjoyed the views of the falls.
Things to do on Goat Island
Goat Island is situated between the American Falls and the Canadian Falls. It is a beautiful and peaceful area with up close and gorgeous views of the falls.
Here are some popular things to do at Goat Island:
- Cave of the Winds
- Terrapin Point – Gorgeous views of the Falls
- Top of the Falls Restaurant
- Bridal Veil Falls
- Luna Island
- American Falls
- Restrooms, Ice Cream, Souvenirs, and Eating Areas
- Illumination of the Falls & Fireworks (seasonal and after sundown)
See more photos and info from our trip to Goat Island HERE.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Niagara Falls. There are so many things to do in the area – lots of activities and restaurants. If we wanted to relax, we had a cozy hotel room and a comfortable bed and couch where we could relax. And, if we wanted to hang out at the hotel, we had the heated pool and restaurant right on site. P.S. We were not paid or compensated in any way for our stay. My stepdaughter had her wedding here and we also enjoyed our summer vacation while in Niagara.
Would we stay here again? Most definitely!

Good review. The food looks delicious and the pool is lovely. And a short walk to Niagara Falls – what could be better?!
This looks like a great place to stay! We have had great luck with other DoubleTree locations, so I’m definitely not surprised that this one has exceeded your expectations. If we’re booking a trip for any reason and see there is a DoubleTree in the area, it’s often one of the first places that we consider booking. I have stayed on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls many times, but never on the US side. It’s something that we’ll have to try when the borders all open up again.
I love DoubleTree hotels! They never disappoint. Nice photos, too.
What a gorgeous place! I also love those cookies by Double Tree haha.
What a great review on the Doubletree By Hilton. My family and I will definitely need to look into this when we eventually go to Niagara Falls on vacation.
What a stunning place. I prefer Double Tree to the regular Hilton hotels, I have stayed in them a few times with work trips and they are generally in nicer areas and I feel more comfortable in them (if that makes sense).
Yes, I totally understand what you’re saying! I’ve always felt safe and comfortable at all of the DoubleTree Hotels that I have stayed at too!
Woou, what a beautiful place. The hotel has amazing rooms, a swimming pool, and the breakfast on the terrace sounds perfect. I might stay there once I finally visit Niagara Falls. Thanks for this honest review.
It was such a nice vacation and the hotel was wonderful. When planning your trip to Niagara, I definitely recommend looking into this DoubleTree.
That sounds like a great place to stay in Niagara Falls. The hotel has so many amenities especially for families – it sounds like the perfect choice.
What a beautiful hotel! I can’t wait to visit Niagara Falls someday and the Illumination of the Falls looks gorgeous!
It really is a lovely hotel, and a great place to stay while in Niagara Falls. The Illumination of the Falls is gorgeous and you can get right up close to the lit falls at Terrapin Point on Goat Island. It’s amazing!!
Sounds like the perfect place to relax after an exciting day out. For instance, a late swim is perfect before crashing. Also, I’ve never heard of this key option – it would be perfect for me, too!
Oh, yes, the pool and hot tub were wonderful after a long day of exploring the falls. And, I really enjoyed the digital key. It was my first time using it and it was very convenient!
Wow, I like their decorations and this hotel seems like a really comfortable place to stay.
Yes, it was beautifully decorated. I loved into that big, comfy bed after a day of sightseeing – it was so comfortable!
We generally stay on the Canadian side at Niagara Falls. But good to know that the Doubletree is a good option in NY. Chocolate chip cookies are always a great enticement for my chocoholic hubby. And great that there is a pool to burn off some of those calories.
I can’t wait to get back to the Canadian Side of Niagara Falls – it’s so fun over there and the view are unbelievable! But, yes, if we stay on the American Side again, we’ll definitely stay at this DoubleTree!
Usually the cookies are my favorite part about a DoubleTree hotel (because they’re THAT good). But, wow – this hotel has so many nice perks. Love the indoor pool and proximity to Niagara Falls!
I know…those cookies…SO GOOD! And, you’re right, everything was nice here!
