Five Daughters Bakery – Nashville, Tennessee
|We had a mini family vacay in Nashville, Tennessee recently. The main event was seeing Hamilton at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. But, we couldn’t leave without making a stop at Five Daughters Bakery.
This family-owned bakery (a husband and wife with 5 daughters) is very popular – and for good reason! They provide yeast donuts, 100-layer donuts, paleo donuts, cookies, and pastries. The menu offers some very original flavors (like the KING KONG with maple frosting and topped with bacon!) and new varieties are added seasonally.
12 South Location
There are a few Five Daughters Bakery locations in Nashville (and a few in Atlanta and one in Florida). We were heading back to Alabama so we visited the 12 South location.
This quaint little place is very popular! We headed back to the bakery area to make our selections. We grabbed some drinks (they offer coffee and some bottled drinks and water) and then headed to pay. I love the pink neon sign in that room!
There is a small sitting area in the bakery. Bar stools line the wall next to a small bar. There are more seating options outside.
The Exterior
The exterior of this bakery is so cute with some nice Instagram-worthy spots. In addition to the nice Insta-walls, the small exterior has plenty of seating and tables. There is also a small play area for children hopped up on a donut sugar high.
The Donuts
We tried a variety of donuts with the Purist (Vanilla glazed 100-layer being the family favorite. They also loved the Vanilla Cream and the Caramel was very popular.
100 Layer Staple Donuts (served year-round)
- The Purist – Vanilla Glazed
- Vanilla Cream
- Chocolate Sea Salt
- Chocolate Ganache with Sprinkles
- King King
- Maple Glazed

Paleo Donuts
I was SO HAPPY to find paleo/gluten-free donuts at Five Daughters! Paleo means there is no gluten, no sugar, and no dairy. So… if anyone in your family or travel party has food allergies, they can still enjoy a donut.
The donut flavors change seasonally. Our visit was in January so these were the Paleo choices:
- Chocolate Chip
- Mocha Crunch
- Blood Orange Honey Pistachio
- Snickerdoodle
The bakery also had paleo chocolate cookies on the day of our visit.

If you are planning a trip to Nashville, I do recommend a visit to one of the Five Daughters Bakeries. You might want to wear stretchy pants on the day of your visit and avoid the scale for a few days. Don’t worry, it’s totally worth it!

Ah, just the look of those donuts! I love their exterior as well, totally Insta worthy as you mentioned. Their pink boxes are really cute too. Such a creative name for a family owned bakery.
I’m getting fat only when I’m looking at it but all of it looks so delicious! Especially the donuts, I didn’t know that there can be a paleo alternative to the common ones.
