Jedi Training Academy at Hollywood Studios
The Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple at Hollywood Studios is the ultimate experience for a Star Wars fan! Who wouldn’t want to learn how to be a Jedi?
My kiddos were so excited to participate in the Jedi Training show and “fight” the Dark Side. It ended up being one of their favorite things about our trip to Disney World!
I have to say this was a fantastic experience for the kids! Participating is free/included in park admission. There is even a cast Member that takes pictures for you that go directly to your Memory Maker (more info below).
*This information is based on our experiences during our visits to Hollywood Studios in February 2019 and November 2019.
Signing Up for Jedi Training- Trials of the Temple
The sign-up spot for Jedi Training is at the Adventure Outpost (a hut between 50’s Prime Time Cafe and the Indiana Jones Stunt Show at Echo Lake).
It’s important to sign up early for your kiddos to be able to participate. Some parents arrive at 8 a.m. to get through security early so that they can sign their child up for this experience. There are shows about every 40 minutes, but the slots fill up quickly.
There is no FastPass+ for this activity and it cannot be reserved in advance. You must register your child for this event on the day of your visit to Hollywood Studios.
This activity is for children ages 4-12 and your child must be present when you sign up. The cast member will ask
The earliest spot available for us was at 4:20 and we were told to return to the Adventure Post at 3:50 to get Jedi robes and instructions.
If all the slots are filled, you can ask a Cast Member if you can check back to see if there are any no shows. Your child may be able to fill in if someone doesn’t show up for their showtime.
You will receive a paper ticket print out when you sign up at Adventure Outpost. You must bring this ticket with you when you return for showtime.
Walking To The Temple for Jedi Training
One parent must stay with their child at all times. The kids line up and at least one parent must walk with them. Parents were told we could hold our kid’s Solo
As you parade through Hollywood Studios, the leader shouts, “We are the Jedi!” and the kiddos then shout, “Here we come!”. They do this all the way to the training temple.
People really seemed to enjoy watching these little kids parading through Hollywood Studios in their Jedi robes. The whole experience is like its own little show
The Jedi Training Temple is located right next to Star War: Star Tour 3-D Ride.
The kiddos find their spot (on the blue dot) and they are given their lightsabers. Next, they learn basic lightsaber tactics. They swing to the right, swing to the left, duck, and swing the lightsaber down.
Dueling Kylo Ren and Darth Vader
Darth Vader and Kylo Ren make a very dramatic entrance as they step out of the temple doors onto the raised stage! I have to say, it was a little scary watching them walk out. These kids are super brave!
Your Kid Fights the Dark Side
Each child
The “fight” is completely choreographed, and the kids use the skills they learned in training. They swing left, right, duck, and then swing down.
One of my favorite things about the Jedi Training is that a Cast Member takes photos of the whole event, including group photos and pictures of each individual child.
These photos go to your Memory Maker or you can buy the daily photos of your day at Hollywood Studios and Jedi Training for about $75.
I was able to video the training and my daughter “fighting” Kylo Ren and I didn’t have to worry about taking photos (even though I also took several photos). The Cast Member was able to get closer to the action and took photos from different angles/perspectives. She got so many pictures that I could not get from my spot in the crowd.
At the end of the show, the kids learn that they should not use anger to fight the Dark Side. The learn to use “the force” to defeat evil. Using the force helps them send Darth Vader and Kylo Ren back into the temple, and the doors close behind them. The Jedi win!
Jedi Training Pin/Souvenir
After the show, each child receives a pin for successfully finishing their training. It’s a nice little souvenir!
Get Your Own Light Saber
If your child wants their very own lightsaber, they can create their own at Tatooine Traders (on the other side of Star Wars: Star Tours). My son loved building his own lightsaber. It lights up and makes “lightsaber swishing” noises. As of 02/2019, a single lightsaber was about $35 and the double is about $50.

Yes! Hollywood Studios is perfect for Star Wars’ fans! The park will open the Star Wars Land later in the fall of 2019. They also have a 3D ride and some meet and greets.
This is such a fun activity for kids! I love these interactive activities so much more than just rides or exhibits, and I love how all the kids had capes on and got into character with their swords and game faces! Also huge perk that you get professional photos taken for you, so you don’t have to worry about trying to get action shots of your kid amongst so many other kids!

This is so cool! Who doesn’t want to become a Jedi? Too bad my son will turn 12 next month, so he won’t be able to do this when we go there. But maybe they will open classes for bigger kids and kids alike.
I think he can participate while he is 12 years old. You can call the Disney information line or speak to a Disney Travel Agent to be sure.
The Jedi Training academy sounds like a thrilling activity. I am sure kids would be very excited about actually engaging Darth Vader in a duel. I must say an experience that they will never forget and memories that they will cherish for a lifetime.
I was really impressed with how brave these kids were. Some were 4-6 years old! It was so cute to see the little girl with pigtails and yellow ribbons in her hair try to fight Darth Vader!
How cool is this??? Good to know there is isn’t a fast pass available for this, so I could sign the kids up early to get in. I guess I would have thought it was a “ride”. Love how Star Wars continues to be so popular with the next generation. That Jedi training instructor looks so convincing. I want to overpower Kylo Ren! So much fun:)
Yes, the Jedi instructors were really into it! It made the whole experience more believable for the kids.

This sounds like so much fun, are you sure it’s just for kids? I would so love to do this lol. Guess I shall just have to wait till my nephew is a little older lol. Also is the light saber just for kids too? Asking for a friend 🙂
Hahaha! I know, right? I wish I could have done this, but I couldn’t pass for a 12 year old! The light sabers are available for anyone, so at least we adults could have that!
What time did you do the sign up? Debating if we should do this or Slinky Dog first (no FP)
We RAN to Toy Story Land first (just like everyone else who didn’t have FP for Slinky Dog). The Line for Slinky Dog wrapped around almost to Walt Disney Presents! It was crazy. We rode Toy Story Mania and Swirling Aliens first and then signed up for Jedi Training and it was about 10:30 a.m. – The first available time for Jedi training was 4:30 in the afternoon. This is was in February on a “low crowd” day. If it’s a busy day, I think you might want to sign up first thing. I’ve even heard of people getting in before the park opens – someone at the entrance has a sign for Jedi Training. I think a lot of people are going to make a mad dash for Slinky Dog Dash and Star Wars Land (when it opens in August) so the lines will be crazy. We found that the lines for Slinky Dog were shorter after lunch.- and we still waited 90 Minutes!
