Chattanooga is a beautiful city with an exciting, thriving food scene. This city has a very diverse selection of restaurants. Whether you’re hungry for fried chicken & biscuits, BBQ, Mexican food, or fine dining with creative dishes – you’ll find plenty of restaurants to satisfy your cravings in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

1885 Grill St. Elmo
Dinner Entrees at 1885 Grill include Grilled Salmon, Shrimp, Pork Chops, Lamb Chops, and Steaks. If you’re into fried chicken, you will love 1885 Grill’s Fried Chicken with Creole Gravy – Creole Gravy. For an appetizer, you gotta try their award-winning wings. You will be tempted to lick your plate clean. That’s fine. Nobody will judge you. Bread Pudding isn’t always on the menu, but if it is, you gotta order it! It is fantastic!

1885 Grill also serves salads, sandwiches, and appetizers. The Crab Cake with Remoulade Sauce is a really delicious appetizer. House-made beef Empanadas with Chimichurri Sauce are also wonderful.
This southern coastal restaurant also serves brunch. Whether you feel like Steak & Eggs, Rainbow Trout Hash, or Belgian Waffle Banana Foster, you will leave 1885 full and happy!

Tupelo Honey
Located in Chattanooga’s Historic Warehouse Row, Tupelo Honey serves fresh, farm-to-table southern cuisine. The made-from-scratch dishes are carefully handcrafted with responsibly sourced ingredients. I really like that you get complimentary biscuits with blueberry jam, butter, and honey as you wait for your meal. The restaurant itself is full of Southern charm.

Sitar Indian Cuisine
Located near the Tennessee Aquarium, Sitar is very popular with locals and tourists alike. Sitar offers an awesome buffet at lunch where you can find several types of curry served with naan.
In addition to the lunch buffet, you can order from the menu. Try the Chicken Makhani and Peshwari Naan, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Masala, Goat Curry, and Saad Paneer.
This restaurant is very vegetarian-friendly and offers a vegetarian menu.

Sticky Fingers
Sticky Finger’s is our family’s favorite restaurant in Chattanooga (or anywhere really). We always have a hard time agreeing on a place to eat because we all like different things. But, we always find something we all enjoy at Sticky Fingers. My husband loves their Memphis-style BBQ, especially the ribs. I love their salads and BBQ Nachos. My daughter raves about their Bacon Cheeseburger. And, my son says their Mac ‘n Cheese is the best he’s ever had!
One of the great things about Sticky Fingers is their variety of BBQ Sauces. I love to dip my meat or fries in each sauce, but I always go back to the Sweet Southern Heat. It’s my favorite!
We love to order the Lava Cake for dessert. It is so good!
Sticky Finger’s has two locations in Chattanooga. One at Jack’s Alley and one in Hamilton. We like to eat at the one at Jack’s Alley on Broad Street because it is within walking distance of the Tennesse Aquarium, High Point Climbing, and the Children’s Discovery Museum.

Champy’s Chicken
Champy’s is famous for its delicious fried chicken and for good reason. The batter is light and the chicken itself is very juicy. You can order your chicken with all your favorite sides – fries, baked beans, slaw, mashed potatoes, green beans, or potato salad.
In addition to fried chicken, Champy’s serves some killer Tamales (served with slaw and crackers) and yummy Catfish Tenders. Locals and visitors also rave about their Fried Green Tomatoes, Pies, and Wings. You can order individual plates or family meals to share. See the full menu HERE.

Uncle Larry’s Restaurant
Uncle Larry’s is a casual, friendly, family-run restaurant. Their claim to fame is their fried fish. If you love fried catfish, tilapia, and whiting fish, you’ll love Uncle Larry’s. They claim that their fish is so good, “it will slap you”! They definitely have a gift for making perfectly seasoned, lightly battered, and crispy fish. If you’re in the mood for something a little spicy, try the Cajun-crusted fish. And, definitely try their sauce! It is wonderful with the fish.
They also serve pork chops, chili, and hot dogs. The portions are huge and you will definitely leave full.

Bluegrass Grill
Bluegrass Grill is a very popular restaurant in Chattanooga. You can almost always expect a line and a wait, but it’s worth it! They serve some good ol’ meat and taters (and other tasty dishes). This restaurant also serves a variety of soups, sandwiches, and salads.
Bluegrass Grill is equally popular for its breakfast. It is one of the most visited breakfast spots in Chattanooga. The great thing about this restaurant is that they serve breakfast all day. So, if you sleep late or you’re craving breakfast for lunch, you can get your favorite breakfast dishes anytime! Their breakfast options include omelets, frittatas, French toast, pancakes, skillets, and hashes.
Bluegrass Grill even offers Gluten-Free options. Gluten-Free French Toast, anyone? They also offer vegan options.
This restaurant is also well-known for its friendly and welcoming staff. They make you feel like you are having a meal at your best friend’s house.

Flying Squirrel
The Flying Squirrel is a neighborhood bar and restaurant that offers seasonally based cocktails, local craft beers, and fresh food using the best local ingredients.
Flying Squirrel restaurant is 21 and over at all times, except Brunch. Brunch is served on Sundays from 10:30 until 3:00 pm. There is usually some form of family-friendly entertainment like live music. See the full Brunch Menu HERE.
The menu at Flying Squirrel changes quite often. They serve seasonal, locally-sourced dishes and ingredients. Whatever you decide to order, you know your dish will be of high quality and presented in a creative way. They serve small plates similar to tapas or dim sum. Mean Mug Coffeehouse
Mean Mug Coffeehouse is a locally-owned restaurant and coffee bar. They offer drip coffee, a full espresso menu, cappuccinos, lattes, and Kyoto-style cold brews. The atmosphere is friendly and cozy. You almost feel like you’ve stepped into a retro, hipster coffeehouse in Seattle.
In addition to the coffee bar, Mean Mug serves some delicious food options. They serve their breakfast and lunch menu items all day. The warm cinnamon rolls and the breakfast platter are big favorites with patrons.
Their baked goods are house-made and include gluten-free options. Many of their menu items accommodate those who are vegan and/or follow the Paleo diet.

Aretha Frankenstein
Aretha Frankenstein’s is located off the beaten path on Tremont Street in Chattanooga. This unique restaurant is actually located in an old house full of funky decor. They offer delicious food in generous portions. The food is made-to-order and made from scratch.
For breakfast, they serve huge, fluffy pancakes and waffles as big as a Cadillac. People come from miles around (and keep coming back!) for the pancakes. They are unlike any you’ve ever had before! For breakfast, Aretha Franklin’s also serves biscuits, omelets, and breakfast burritos
The restaurant also serves beer and coffee drinks. They offer bottled beer, beer on draft, and specialty coffee drinks.
This hole-in-the-wall restaurant and bar are open 7 a.m. to midnight every day. They serve breakfast all day in case you want to visit for brunch or want to have breakfast for dinner.

Taco Mamacita
Located near Coolidge Park, Taco Mamacitas is the perfect place to visit when you’re in the mood for Mexican food. They are known for their “funky-fusion tacos, fresh-made guacamole, Peruvian Chicken, and amazing margaritas.”

Alleia is one of the few restaurants that offers innovative entrees in an upscale dining experience right in the heart of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Each and every Italian dish is hand-crafted and is made from fresh, local ingredients.
For a starter, try the Bacon-wrapped Dates. They will knock your socks off. For an entree, enjoy the Pork Shoulder. It is their signature dish and it is fantastic!

The Big River Grill and Brewing Works are known for their delicious food, generous portions, and hand-crafted beers. The food is fresh and made from scratch. Big River Grill’s menu options range from Southwestern to Cajun to Pasta to Fresh Seafood. Their brewery and bar feature award-winning ales & lagers that are made on-site.
Some of the tasty appetizers include the Asiago Artichoke & Crab Dip, Jalapeno Pretzel Sticks, and Brewery Chicken Nachos. For an entrée, enjoy the Salmon Sandwich, Fish Tacos, Grilled Steak, or Lobster & Shrimp Enchiladas.
The hamburgers are fantastic and are very popular. Try their 2 a.m. Burger! This burger is topped with egg, bacon, and hash browns.
Visitors also enjoy the lively atmosphere at Big River Grille and Brewing Works. They offer championship billiards and live music for their patrons. Both of the restaurants’ locations offer a good time and great food while you’re in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Easy Bistro & Bar is known for its fine dining in a casual atmosphere. The Trout (with curry aioli and capers) is very popular. The Chicken Fried Chicken Ballotine and Steak Tartare have also received rave reviews. Stop by Easy Bar and Bistro for Happy Hour and enjoy discounted drinks (made by a professional mixologist) and $1 Oysters.
Be sure to save room for dessert. Enjoy the Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce. It is very sweet with caramel, candied pecans, and bourbon cream. You won’t be disappointed!
Easy Bistro & Bar also serves brunch. The Eggs Benedict with Potato Hash and Bloody Marys are wonderful!

Boathouse Rotisserie & Raw Bar
The fresh oysters at Boathouse are out-of-this-world. Try the oysters with the olive oil, garlic, and parsley – Oh.My.Goodness! They are so good! The Feta Cheese Dip appetizer and Ceviche are also amazing.
There are plenty of deep-fried seafood favorites that are seasoned and served with a Cajun flair. They also serve non-fried options like grilled fish, salads, steaks, and rotisserie chicken. See the full menu HERE.
The Boathouse also serves a nice variety of craft beers and margaritas.

Bluegrass Grill would be my favorite pick out of the lot – it being a vegan-friendly restaurant. Sitar looks like an Indian/Asian outlet with the list of dishes they turn out.Another place to look out for sure is the Black Inn cafe …A useful post !

Your post makes me hungry and it is good you have present all the diverse cuisine from all around the world in Chattanooga. I would love to go for Sitar, as I can figure out there are many Indian types of bread and curries available there. Mexican food is also my favorite and therefore I would also love to eat out in Taco Mamacita.

Where to begin! All of those places look and sound incredible, I would be broke if I lived there! I’m currently in Asia and reading through this has given me the biggest craving for some hearty, Western food. Whatever the photo is for the Big River Grille, well, I want it now! Thanks for sharing such a comprehensive list, if I ever make it to Chattanooga, I know where to eat until I burst 🙂

Every single dish that you pictured looks absolutely delicious! I love the variety that you presented in this list – everyone would find something that they love to choose from. East Bistro & Bar looks like it would be a favorite for us and the dishes at Flying Squirrel look like gorgeous works of art!

That’s a LOT of food! I think Champy’s would be the best for me since I’m always looking for juicy fried chicken with LIGHT batter. A lot of places seem to either over cook or over batter their chicken. Also, I love that Bluegrass serves breakfast all day long! Breakfast is my favorite meal and theirs looks scrumptious!
Yes! The chicken at Champy’s is amazing. And Bluegrass is perfect for brunch if you decide to sleep in and miss breakfast or if you just want breakfast for dinner.
