White Water in Atlanta, Georgia with Kids
|White Water in Atlanta, Georgia*
We love to visit White Water in Atlanta in the summertime. It’s a really fun place to cool off on those hot days. They have playgrounds and splashpads for the smaller kids and easy-going rides with large rafts that families can ride together. There are also thrill rides for older kids and adults.
*This waterpark is actually located in the outskirts of Atlanta in a town called Marietta.
Playgrounds and Splashpads
The great thing about the playgrounds and splashpads at White Water is that they are located near the entrance of the park. Little ones don’t have to walk to the back of the park to get to this play area.
There is also plenty of seating here. We only save a seat or two since we spend most of the day playing. The seats are used when we want a snack or drink and to hold our towels, sunscreen, and extra clothes.
Skull Island
The kids love Skull Island and they usually spend a lot of time here. It is a fun, interactive playground with bridges and water cannons. There is a huge bucket at the top of the playground and when it fills up, the water dumps out on the people below. They love it!

Captain’s Kids Cove is basically a shallow pool with a playground in the middle of it. There are water cannons, water pipes, and slides that the kids will enjoy. This area also has two short, wide slides that enter into this pool. It’s a nice way for younger ones to enjoy slides that are kid-sized.
Buccaneer Bay
My two kiddos loved this area when they were little! There is a splashpad with a pirate ship and several slides. This area has lots of seating and shaded areas which was perfect for letting the kids take a nap when they got tired.
Lazy River
The Lazy River is my FAVE (well, after Dragon’s Tail). I’m usually so exhausted just getting everyone to the park, I just want to relax when I get there. The lazy river has lots of floaties available, but sometimes the river is too crowded and we don’t get one. Either way, the lazy river is a lot of (relaxing) fun!
The water in the Lazy River is so COLD and can be a shock at 10 a.m., but it is wonderful during the hottest time of the day.
Atlanta Ocean Wave Pool

The Atlanta Ocean Wave Pool is a lot of fun. During the calm time, you can just float around and swim. Then you hear the horn blast. That means the waves are starting! It’s a lot of fun jumping the waves (that’s what I call it) like we do at the ocean. I also like to be lazy and stay in my floatie and let the waves push me around. This is a great way to cool off and chill when everyone gets a little tired.
Lily Pad Crossing

Kids love pretending to be frogs at the Lily Pad Crossing. It’s harder than it looks! There is a net that drapes across the water and lily pad trail to help the kiddos get across. This is a challenging activity and the kids love it!

The Big Slides
Runaway River
Runaway River may seem intimidating when you see how high it is at the beginning. You have to climb several flights of steps to get to the top. There is usually a line of people so the climb is a gradual one.
It also has a few dark tunnels. But it is a smooth ride that smaller kids can go on with a parent or family/friends. Taller kiddos can ride with just friends if they want. I have ridden this with 6, 8, and 10-year-olds and they all loved it!
The Wahoo Racer

The Wahoo Racer is a newer ride at White Water. It is 60 feet tall and lets 6 people race down the winding, tunnel slide. Riders hop on their mat and race head first going 40 feet-per-second!
The Tornado

My 10-year-old daughter and husband LOVE The Tornado ride. 2-4 riders can share a float. At the very beginning of the ride there is a really steep drop. That first drop really gets your heart pumping. Then you enjoy a more relaxing ride. The float goes back and forth down the huge “funnel” until you reach the pool at the bottom.

I call this ride the toilet bowl because that’s what it looks like to me. My 10-year-old daughter loves it. The initial slide down the tunnel slide is exciting, but it’s not a scary ride. This ride has a float that can carry up to 4 people.
Other Big Slides:
- Dive Bomber
- Escape Chute/Secret Passage
The Food
Above: Head over to the food station near the Water Mill for some pizza. There is a lot of shaded seating here.
We always eat a big breakfast before heading to White Water. As soon as we hit the park, the kiddos want to run and play. They don’t even think about eating for a few hours, so I want to make sure they have had a good breakfast to hold them over.
You can’t bring food into White Water, but you can bring a cooler with a picnic lunch and leave it in your car. There is a pavilion and benches located outside the park where you can eat your packed lunch. Or, you can crank up the A/C and eat in your car – it’s up to you. This is a great option if your family has food allergies or you just don’t want to pay $4 for a soda.
White Water does have several food restaurants and a variety of options. My kids love the pizza (of course!), the cheese bread, and the popcorn. Other food options include turkey legs, chicken fingers, foot-long corn dogs and hot dogs, wings, and funnel cakes. For lighter options, they serve salads, wraps, veggie burgers, and smoothies. White Water also offers gluten-free menu items. See all of the food available HERE.
