The Old Mill at T.R. Pugh Memorial Park
Little Rock, Arkansas
We made a little road trip to Arkansas and stopped at The Old Mill at T.R. Pugh Memorial Park in Little Rock. It was a very special trip because we drove to Arkansas to pick up our new fur baby Max. He is a sweet little Pembroke Welsh Corgi and we are absolutely in love with him!
I see many pet friendly vacations in our future. He is a fantastic little traveler!
Okay, back to The Old Mill at T.R. Pugh Memorial Park…
I am so happy that we stopped here. It seemed like a small, simple place but WOW- it was amazing! I could have stayed here all day – admiring the landscaping, listening to the little waterfalls, and watching the ducks play. It is a beautiful and peaceful park.
You may recognize the mill itself because it is in the opening scenes of the classic movie “Gone With The Wind” (it is believed to be the only remaining structure from the movie). It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The park itself sits on three acres, and is open to the public. Parking and admission to the park and mill are FREE.
We stopped at The Old Mill during April. The dogwoods and azaleas were blooming and the trees, hostas, and bushes were very lush and green. And the weather was wonderful. Spring is a great time to visit The Old Mill. Caretakers of the park make sure that there are flowers blooming here all year long!
The Mill
The park has an oval walkway along the outer edges with bridges and stone steps throughout.
The Flowers
This bridge was a great place to watch the ducks swim and play.
Restrooms
There are public restrooms here at the park. I didn’t see any picnic tables but there are plenty of benches and grassy areas all throughout the park that would be perfect for a picnic.
Max’s First Roadside Attraction
This was a nice place for the kids to run around and stretch their legs. The nice thing is that the park is pet friendly so we could let our sweet Max walk around.

We live in a wooded area in the country, and this park was giving me major landscaping goals!

After our visit to The Old Mill, it was time to head back to Sweet Home Alabama and take our new baby home…

Girrrlll I couldn’t stay in the woods. I’m such a city girl. But you look like you love it.
Can totally see why you were getting landscape goals at the Mill this park and the mill house are absolutely stunning – they look straight out of an English countryside magazine, so I was surprised this wasn’t in the UK lol. But let’s be honest, it’s all about Max in this post, what a cutie. I can’t wait to see more posts featuring him x
You’re right! Max is the best… And the landscaping is pretty awesome too.
This looks like it would be an awesome trip to go and see. I love to go and see quaint little spots like this.
I do too, Becca!
I love the old mills and country scenery. We have an old grist mill here that you can tour, love going there.
That’s awesome, Debra! It’s so nice that you have the mills so close. We have one in Tannehill State Park near Birmingham here in Alabama. We went camping and visited the mill there too.
Oh my gosh, how lovely, its like something out of a Thomas Kincaide picture! Beautiful!
Yes, Nicole! I was trying to think of that painters name because I thought of the same thing! Thanks!

Awe, your lil’ Corgi is so cute and your kiddos are too! I think this park and the Old Mill are the most beautiful pictures I have seen in a bit. I seen this in another post although this gives me so much more detail. I feel young or at peace I can’t quite put a name on how I feel seeing historical places and this one is so …nostalgic maybe?
Nostalgic is the perfect way to describe these historic places, Gladys!
The Old Mill at T.R. Pugh Memorial Park looks like a nice place for family. I’ll bring my niece here soon.
You will have a great time with your niece!
These photos are amazing! I love going to old mills and through nature walks. The photos of the flowers were beautiful! Definitely a place to visit, thanks for sharing!

No wonder your little fur baby is special to you. He’s absolutely adorable! What a cute picture.
Thank you so much, Pat! He is the best fur baby!
Max is so cute he belongs on a greeting card! That face! Also, this looks like a beautiful place to visit. I love painting and want to go to paint that mill. Such a serene environment. I’ll bet it was peaceful–or as peaceful as it can be with a puppy and children, lol.
Thank you! I didn’t even think about what a great place this would be for painters! That’s a fantastic idea! It’s definitely a beautiful scene!
Your puppy is so adorable! So sweet and cut and your trip sounds like a very interesting experience, the mill is beautiful! Would love to visit the place myself!
Thank you, Corina! We’re in love with the little guy! And I could have stayed at that park and the mill all day! All of my stress just melted away while I was there.

Max is so adorable, what a worthy journey to get him alone but this place is a added bonus, it looks like a lovely place to visit with a gorgeous landscape!
Thank you, Elizabeth! We love Max so much. We found him on puppyfinder.com and didn’t want to put him through the trama of a flight to Alabama. He is wonderful riding in a car!

It’s just a few minutes off of I-40 if you are ever in Little Rock, Emily. It’s well worth a visit!
This looks like the pages of a fairytale come to life!! So beautiful!
It really does, Jenna! I wish I had gotten better pics of the kids and dressed them up. But, I’m happy with the road trip hair and the ketchup stained clothes pictures of them. This was a great memory for our family!
I love taking my camera and visiting places like this which look like a page out of the past. We don’t get to see too many places like this around here. If I’m ever in the area, it would be the first place I’d want to visit.
I hope you get to visit this place, Terri. We also love to visit Historical Sites. My husband and I are interested in History and we want our trips to also be educational for our kiddos.
Astounding photos, Kristy. I’d love to visit this very enchanting place someday.
