World of Coca-Cola Museum in Atlanta, Georgia
|The World of Coca-Cola Museum is located right next to the Georgia Aquarium and across the Street from Centennial Park. There is so much to do, you could spend a whole day (or two) in just this area!
You don’t have to be a Coke drinker to enjoy this museum. This colorful, interactive museum showcases the history of advertising and Coke’s influence on Pop Culture (they pretty much created the American version of Santa Claus).
From showing the vault where the secret formula is held to offering a taste test of more than 100 Coke flavors from all over the world, this museum is a lot of fun for the whole family.
The Lobby
When you first enter the museum, you will see the Lobby which is the welcoming center. You will wait here until the next group is allowed into the Loft/Theater area. You can get a drink, grab a museum map, and watch a few videos while you wait.
There is a bar area where you will be offered a canned Coke drink. They only offer Coca‑Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero Sugar, and the reduced calorie Coca‑Cola Life in this area. But, after you enter the museum, there is a tasting area that offers all Coke products including flavored waters – and it is all-you-can-drink.
The Loft
You will spend about 8 minutes in The Loft with a tour guide giving a brief introduction to the museum. This room is very cool with 200 historical and international artifacts (representing about 30 countries). Some of these artifacts are 125 years old!
After the introduction in The Loft, everyone heads into the theater for a 6-minute video. Honestly, I didn’t want to sit through a 6 minute Coke commercial, but I ended up enjoying the video very much. I even cried at one point – it was a good little film.
The Hub
The Hub is the epicenter of the whole museum. All of the entrances to the galleries and exhibits are located here. There are also steps (and elevators) that can get you to the exhibits upstairs. This is also the area where you can get your photo taken with the Coke Polar Bear.
The Vault of the Secret Formula
This exhibit is very interactive with games and activities for everyone. You also learn about the history of the secret coke recipe/formula. At the end of the tour, everyone ends up in the Chamber of the Vault. There is a very dramatic reveal (the walls shift and move) of the vault where the secret formula is held.
Milestones of Refreshment
Milestones of Refreshment gallery showcases the history of Coca-cola. You can see how the Coca-cola company has grown and evolved over the years. There are over 1,000 original artifacts in this exhibit including soda fountains, a delivery truck, and memories from the Olympic Games that Coke has sponsored.
Bottle Works
At Bottle Works, you get to see what goes on at the Coca-Cola bottling plant. This behind-the-scenes view of the bottling line is very interesting.
Pop Culture Gallery
This is a cool little area showing art and original paintings featuring Coca‑Cola by several artists. We learned about the history of Sprite Boy and how Coca-Cola helped create the modern visualization of Santa Claus for their advertising.
Now that you have checked out the exhibits in the museum, you’ve probably worked up a big thirst. You can head upstairs to the tasting room and drink all of the Coke products your bladder can handle!
Taste It!
Taste It is located on the second floor of the museum (right next to the gift shop and exit). This is a very popular area and it can get very crowded.
Cups are provided to all guests and you can try different flavors from all over the world (including the infamous Beverly that you can also try at Disney World). There are over 100 flavors to try!
Tasting Stations -Beverages From Around the World
As you enter this area, you will see five colorful tasting stations. They are organized geographically and you can try drinks popular in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America.
Coca-Cola Product Tasting
There are six Coca‑Cola Freestyle Machines with over 100 different drinks to try – including lemonades and flavored waters. Just head over to the large red Coke bottle (next to the big window) and drink all you want!
There is also a sampling bar in this area. The samples include drinks that are offered for just a limited time. When we were there, we had a tea that was mixed with lemonade.
4-D Theatre
This theater shows a 3-D video (glasses are provided). There are some special effects and the seats move, making this a 4-D experience. There are some seats in the back of the theater that don’t move if you prefer those. The video was Coke-themed – In Search of the Secret Formula.
The Coke Store
As you leave the museum, you will go through the Coke Store. It is filled with Coke-themed toys, clothing, souvenirs, and art – pretty much anything you can think of all available for purchase.
Overall, we had a great time at the World of Coca-Cola Museum! We learned a lot and had so much fun!
