25 Things We Love About LEGOland, Florida
|
LEGOLAND Florida
I have to say –
At LEGOland Florida!
LEGOland Resort is located in Winter, Haven – Central Florida. It is a beautiful place with lovely landscaping. The park was built on the grounds of the historic Cypress Gardens. You can still see a Banyan tree that was planted in 1939.
LEGOland is divided into 12 different lands that all offer their own themed dining, rides, and attractions. This park seems smaller than other amusement parks, which was nice. We felt like we could take our time and ride everything we wanted (most rides we rode 2-3 times each). None of us felt overwhelmed at all which made our day here very enjoyable!
We made sure to arrive early so we could get a few photos at the entrance!
There is a great photo spot before you get to the Grand Carousel where you can take the kids photo with Emmet and Wyld Style.
Here Are The Top 25 Things We Love About LEGOland, Florida:
LEGO NINJAGO World
LEGO NINJAGO RIDE
The LEGO NINJAGO Ride was a big favorite with the kids, especially the boys! We had watched the movie about 100 times on our road trip to Florida, so they were excited to see the characters and the ride.
The kiddos wore 3-D Glasses for this virtual reality-type ride. The ride involves interactive game play with ninja hand movements (like a video game). They would test their ninja skills by shooting fireballs and lightning at the bad guys and try to score the most points.
At the end of the ride, you can see what you (and your other riders) scored and what your Ninja Master Level is.
Other LEGO NINJAGO Activities
In addition to the LEGO NINJAGO ride, there are other fun activities in this area where kids can practice their Ninja Skills.
Here are some of the fun things kids can do here:
- Kai’s Fire Spinners – Kids can perfect their spinning skills on these self-powered spinners. There is a soft, padded flooring here in case anyone falls.
- Zane’s Temple Build – This is a building station where the kiddos can add their own creations to the base of the mountain under the temple.
- Cole’s Rock Climbing – This Rock Climbing Wall goes across (instead of Up & Down) and is in a shaded area. My kids loved trying to make it all the way across the climbing wall.
- Jay’s Lightning Drill- The kids could test their ninja reflexes by hitting the lightning bolts before time ran out. It’s like a modern, ninja version of Whack-A-Mole.
Mia’s Riding Adventure
The girls LOVED this ride! They rode it at least 3 times in a row! They cold pick their pony, and then the ride would spin in a circle while rocking back and forth.
Mia’s Riding Adventure is located in Heartlake City right next to The Grand Carousel.
Ford Driving School
That Mustang was made of LEGO’s!
After getting your photo taken for your “driver’s license”, you get to attend driving class and watch a video about driving safety.
Then it’s time to hit the road.
Are my kids driving on the wrong side of the road?
Above: There is a smaller driving school for the younger children in the same area called Ford Jr Driving School (it’s ride next to Boating School).
Driving School was a big hit with all of the kiddos. They loved driving their own cars. This attraction is located in LEGO City in the back of the park (before you get to the water park).
Boating School
Boating School is a slow moving ride, but the kids loved that they could drive the boats themselves. There is a foot pedal for power and the kids can steer through the winding water way. This ride is also located in LEGO City in the back of the park.
Flying School
Flying school is more of “thrill ride” and seemed to be more popular with the older kids and tweens.
AQUAZONE Wave Racers
This ride was a lot of fun! The kiddos could steer their bright yellow wave racer and try to splash the other riders. The wave racers spin and fan out into the water and the speed increases as the ride goes on.
There are water cannons and “bombs” placed throughout the water, and parents can try to splash their kids from the sidelines (there are buttons that you can push to make the water bombs).
Coastersaurus
Located in Land of Adventure, this wooden roller coaster was a big hit with the kiddos (and this momma). The first hill/drop is a little exciting, but the other hills are very tame. It’s exciting without being scary.
Technicycle
The more you pedal, the higher you go! Kiddos loved feeling like they were flying through the sky!
Merlin’s Challenge
Merlin’s Challenge is located in LEGO Kingdoms in the park. This was a favorite with the kiddos, especially the boys. They rode it about 20 times while the girls rode The Dragon.
This wooden train ride that travels in a large, hilly circle. These kiddos wrote this at least 5 times. The conductor would ask them if they wanted to go faster – which the kids loved – and the ride would speed up.
The Dragon
The Dragon was the girls/older kid’s favorite. It is a steel roller coaster that runs indoors and outdoors. It is located in LEGO Kingdoms right next to Merlin’s Challenge.
The girls rode The Dragon while I watched the boys at Merlin’s Challenge, so I didn’t get a great pic of the roller coaster itself. (I did find this one on Groupon).
The Grand Carousel
Photo Above: We called The Grand Carousel the “Double-Decker Carousel”.
The kiddos really enjoyed this ride. It’s at the beginning of the park, so we rode it once on the way in and again as we were leaving the park. They especially loved riding on the top deck.
Kiddos Can Play With LEGO’s While Waiting in Line
Here is one of the LEGO play areas at Boating School. You won’t here “I’m bored.” or “How much longer?” while waiting in line. Time will fly by while they play with LEGO’s.
A play area inside the line for LEGO NINJAGO. The line for this ride is indoors, air conditioned, and has play areas – NICE!
Kid’s Power Towers
The Towers of Powers are located in the Imagination Zone. Kiddos are strapped in and then they could pull themselves to the very top (it was very easy!). Then they would free fall – the fall is actually a little slow and there were little stops at intervals so it wasn’t scary at all.
The Quest for CHI
Quest for CHI is located in The World of Chima between DUPLO Valley and LEGO Kingdoms.
There is a small splash pad to the left of the entrance if you have small kiddos you need to entertain while the older kids ride this ride. This area also has lots of bench seating, rest rooms, and changing rooms.
The Quest for Chi is an interactive boat ride through the world of Chima. Riders can battle with their own water cannons, and outsiders can shoot their own water cannons at the riders.
Dressing Rooms At Quest for CHI
Above: There are dressing rooms and restrooms right next to The Quest for Chi Ride. I had packed a changed of clothes in large Ziploc bags in my backpack. The kids got SOAKED on the ride and wanted to change, so I was so happy to see this spot.
Just beware of the LEGO Skunk located next to the Dressing Rooms sign. He farts A LOT (you will think it’s someone else nearby or you might blame the kids like me). Don’t worry… He says sorry afterwards.
Lots of Food Options
Everyone seemed to want something different for lunch and some of us have dietary/allergy restrictions. We ended up going through Pepper & Roni’s for a couple of pizzas. Then, we all sat at Market restaurant and some of us got salads, sandwiches, etc. I was happy to see the salad options and the gluten-free KIND bars. There is also a coffee shop here at Market Restaurant, which is nice for an afternoon caffeine pick-me-up!
All Dining Options:
- Adventure Snacks – Located in the Land of Adventure, Adventure Snacks serves hot dogs, nachos, and a variety of cold drinks.
- Fun Town Pizza & Pasta Buffet – Located in Fun Town, this is an all-you-can eat buffet. They offer a variety of pizzas including a dessert fruit pizza and a dessert Cinnamon pizza. This buffet also includes an all-you-can-eat salad bar.
- Granny’s Apple Fries- You can get these Apple Fries right next to The Grand Carousel in Fun Town. The Granny Smith Apples are cut like fries, sprinkled with sugar & cinnamon and served with whipped cream.
- Castle Burger- A great place to get a hamburger or cheeseburger with fries. They also serve grilled Chicken Salads. It’s located in LEGO Kingdoms.
- Burger Kitchen- This is a great place to get a burger and fries. They also serve veggie burgers, chicken sandwiches, and fish sandwiches. It is located in LEGO City.
- Fried Chicken Restaurant-You can grab some chicken fingers for you & the kiddos here. Located in LEGO City.
- Pepper and Roni’s Pizza Shop – There is no sitting inside this pizza shop. A “grab and go” restaurant. The personal size pizzas we got were $7-8 each. There is seating outside and next door at Market Restaurant. It is located near the front of the park.
- Panini Grill- This grill is located in Imagination Zone. They serve salads and Panini Sandwiches that are made fresh everyday. It’s also a great place to get ice cream snacks.Market Restaurant- We ate here. There are lots of salad, sandwich, dessert, soup, fruit, and snack options. This market also has a coffee shop inside. Lots of room to sit and relax. It is located near the front of the park. You’ll see it on your right before you head into the park to The Grand Carousel.
Ice Cream & Slushies
- Kingdom Cones- Grab a soft-serve ice cream waffle cone here. The ice cream is mixed with different flavors (of your choice). Located in LEGO Kingdoms.
- Heartlake Ice Cream Parlor- Great place to grab an ice cream cone.
- Dino Slush- Lots of slushie flavors. Located in Land of Adventure.
- Firehouse Ice Cream- Located in LEGO City (right next to the Firehouse Ride), this firehouse themed ice cream parlor serves hand dipped ice cream, floats, and sundaes.
- Fun Town Slushies – Located in Fun Town, they offer a variety of flavorful slushies.

Above photo via. Granny’s Apple Fries are also a must-try at LEGOland! The Granny Smith Apples are cut like fries and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. They are served with whipped cream and/or a la mode!
Next time we visit, I want to eat at the Fun Town Pizza & Pasta Buffet. It’s all you can eat!
Shopping
At the LEGO Factory, there were two walls of LEGO’s of all colors, shapes, and sizes! You could bag up and purchase all the LEGO’s you want!
I was pleasantly surprised with the reasonable prices here. We found several items on sale and the kids were able to get several things with their souvenir money. We could leave our purchases and pick them up on the way out of the park. That way, we didn’t have to carry the bags around with us all day.
LEGO Movies
We love the LEGO “4-D” Movies. You get to wear 3-D Glasses which really makes the movie come alive. There are real-world effects like rain (water is spritzed on the audience), snow (bubbles float down), wind (fans blown on the people in the audience). You get the idea…
The Golden LEGO statues and the “red carpet” were so cute! There is a countdown clock that lets you know when the next show will begin.
Pirates Cove & The LIVE Water Ski Show
After our visit to LEGO Kingdoms, we made our way over to Pirate’s Cove to see Battle for Brickbeard’s Bounty: A Pirates’ Cove Ski Adventure. It’s a very entertaining live-action ski show and the kids really enjoyed it!
There were only two shows on the day of our visit. We had missed the 12:15 show because we were eating lunch, so we went to the 2:15 show. Time had gotten away from us because we were having so much fun in Kingdoms, and we had to RUN to make the start of the show. Next time I will plan our time better and get to the show earlier. I definitely recommend taking the kiddos to see this show – they will love it!
Photo above: This face says it all! The kids really enjoyed the water ski show at Pirate’s Cove.
This show was full of slap-stick humor and water skiing stunts. The kids were mesmerized and laughing the whole time!
Above: The first 5 rows might get wet!
Captain Blackbeard!
Royal Joust
The kids loved riding their own LEGO horse! This Royal Joust ride sits in a medieval forest full of tents, knights, and other creatures. It is located in LEGO Kingdoms.
Lost Kingdom Adventure
Located in Land of Adventure, this video arcade-type ride was a lot of fun. We felt like Indiana Jones battling skeletons and mummies in order to get to the treasure.
Imagination Zone
This is a nice, air-conditioned place to spend some time and let the kiddos play with LEGO’s.
There are so many Zones for playing and building with LEGO’s:
- Building Zone
- Water Zone
- Warner Bros. Gaming Zone
- Creation Zone
- Flight Zone
- LEGO Mindstorms
- Games Zone
Tower of Power is also located in Imagination Zone.
DUPLO Valley
DUPLO Valley is perfect for little ones! They will love all of the mini rides, play areas, and the splash pad.
The DUPLO Valley area includes:
- DUPLO Farm – An air-conditioned farm themed play area
- The DUPLO Splash & Play – Cute splash pad with large LEGO’s and Animals
- DUPLO Tot Spot – Playhouse area with DUPLO LEGO’s for little ones to play with
- The DUPLO Tractor – Little ones will love riding on this kid-sized tractor
- DUPLO Train – Kiddos can take a ride through the country side in a mini train (parents can also ride)
Playgrounds & Splash Pads
I loved that there were play areas and splash pads all throughout the park. This keeps little ones entertained while the older kids ride the bigger rides. There are also picnic tables and benches all throughout the park if parents or little ones need to rest a while.
Other play areas/splash pads include:
- Forestman’s Hideout – This treehouse-type playground is located in LEGO Kingdoms across from The Royal Joust. There are a lot of tunnels, slides, ladders, and ropes to play on.
- DUPLO Splash & Play – Located in DUPLO Valley, this is the perfect place for little ones to cool off (photo above).
- The Quest for CHI – There is a splash pad right outside The Quest for Chi and benches and plenty of seating areas.
Miniland
I’m going to write a more detailed post all about MINIland because it was amazing! I can only imagine all of the work that goes into these creations!
There are buttons the kids can push to make the mini cars race, elephants and fire trucks squirt water, and a rocket ships take off! The kids and I thoroughly enjoyed this interactive Land in the Park. The Star Wars exhibit is a must-see!
LEGO’s – LEGO’s Everywhere
From the Welcome sign at the entrance to Albert Einstein’s mustache, there are LEGO Creations everywhere! I can only imagine the time and effort it took to make all of these -especially Miniland- it’s amazing!
We Brought a Backpack with:
- Sunscreen – With all the splash pads and water rides, I really needed the sunscreen to reapply.
- Change of Clothes – I brought each kid a change of clothes in Large Ziploc Bags (would add swimsuits if visiting the water park) and one towel for drying off. We also brought a few plastic Publix Grocery Bags for the wet clothes. I don’t recommend jeans or jean shorts. They are so HEAVY when they get wet!
- Bottled Waters – You are allowed to bring bottled water into the park with you. I brought one for each kid and myself and then we purchased more drinks at lunch.
- Snacks – There are plenty of spots to get food and snacks at the park, but I bought snacks in case the kid’s got hangry while waiting in line. I brought some nuts, gummy snacks, and peanut butter crackers in a light, plastic Tupperware tub (to keep them from getting squished in the backpack). See the rules for bringing in food to LEGOland HERE.
Our Bucket List For Our Next Trip:
We honestly rode just about everything twice, some rides we rode three times. Our visit was in January and there were no lines. We felt like we had the place to ourselves. There are a few things we missed and would like to do on our next visit.
- The Water Park – We went to LEGOland in January and unfortunately the Water Park Area was closed. We definitely will have to revisit in the warmer months.
- Safari Trek – After riding the Coastersaurus we were starving and headed off for food. We planned to come back for Safari Trek, but got really distracted in LEGO Kingdoms.
- Beetle Bounce – I think we also missed this one because of our lunch break – we have to do it next time.
- Project X / The Great LEGO Race – Project X wasn’t operating at the time of our visit. It is being updated to become The Great LEGO Race, a virtual reality roller coaster. I know the kids will love it!
- Bring/Trade/Collect Mini figures – I wish we had been more prepared with the Mini Figures. It is a fun tradition at LEGOland. I really think the kids would really enjoy trading Minifigures with the Model Citizens (LEGOLAND employees). There is even a Mini Figure Market in Fun Town we want to spend some time at.
- Visit the LEGOland Resort Park at least 2 days or More – We were so excited to see and do everything at the park. I would like to have more time to slow down/take our time and enjoy more 4-D movies, Mini figure trading, MINIland, Imagine Land, and the Water Park.

Overview
I have to say – We had a great time at LEGOland! My kiddos are still talking about it and they can’t wait to go back! We made so many great memories here!
I’m so glad that we stayed at the LEGOland Beach Retreat nearby. With LEGO’s in the pool, themed bungalows, dance parties, and character dinner, it really made the whole experience even more special!

Thanks for your extremely thorough review of Legoland. They seem to have everything and I love that they let the kids play with Lego’s when waiting in line. I also love that they have air conditioned areas to eat, rest and regroup.

Legoland looks so fun to go to. I’ve always wanted to go to Universal ,but I might just change it up and go to Legoland (Especially Miniland and Royal Joust).

WOW! The Legoland in Florida is way bigger than the one in Kansas City! I love all the outdoor rides! Great pics 🙂
We love the LEGOLAND Discovery Centers, too! I think the bigger parks are in Florida & California.
No way, this is so cool! They have a massive Lego Store at the two malls not far from my house, but I’ve never heard of Lego Land.. this is amazing!
You would love it, Emily! I was so glad we learned about this resort!
This place looks like absolute magic for the kids! If I had any, I would take them to a place like that for sure!
The kiddos did think it was magical, Corina!
Lego seems to have made a huge come back recently. I’ve never been to any of the LEGOLANDS but they all sound great. Lego has grown so much since I was a child and played with it, it’s so advanced now. Kids really love it!
I agree. LEGOLAND seems to have perfectly matched advanced technology and good old-fashioned playing to make a great amusement park for kiddos.
One of the best posts I have read so far and full of information about Florida. This will really help us when we visit this city.
Glad to help! I hope you guys have a great trip!
This looks like an awesome place to go! Great pics & review! Thanks!
Thanks Mindi! If you’re taking the kiddos to Florida, I recommend going to LEGOLAND. The kids will have the best time!
Legoland sounds like a great place to take kids for a vacation. There are so many neat things to do and see. I love that they have movies and shows too! My youngest niece is really into pirates so she would love Pirates Cove! I know both of my nieces would love Legoland and have a great time! Thank you for your awesome post about Legoland!
I knew the kids would love all of the roller coasters and rides at LEGOLAND, but I was surprised at how much they enjoyed the show at Pirate’s Cove. It was one of their favorite things in the park! And, it’s nice to sit in the air-conditioning for the fun LEGO 4D movies!
