The Museum

The Missouri History Museum is located in St. Louis, Missouri in Forest Park showcasing Missouri history. When I think about a history museum, I don’t necessarily think that my kiddos will enjoy it. But, I must say, they had a great time at the Missouri History Museum.

The exhibits were interesting for both adults and kids, but the kids will especially loved The History Clubhouse. It is designed specifically for play and fun and teaches children about the history of Missouri at the same time. It is a nice place to spend a few hours with the family and admission is always FREE.

History Clubhouse

This is a great area to bring kiddos while on vacation. Most of our plans in St. Louis included outdoor activities, but we had one afternoon with rain in the forecast. We knew that would be a perfect time to check out the Missouri History Museum. In addition to rainy days, it would also be perfect for hot days in the summertime and really cold days in the wintertime (or any day really, it’s a very nice museum).

The kids could pretend to play and eat on a steamboat. They really liked that they could blow the horn.

The kiddos really liked play restaurant at this International Cafe’. They served me some “delicious” plastic spaghetti.

My kids could have stayed in this area for hours. There are toys, books, and sitting areas. The table have crayons and coloring sheets for the kiddos to color.

Route 66 Exhibit

We really loved the Route 66 Exhibit. It is full of historical artifacts that were found along this road and how it ties in to St. Louis and it’s history. It was a temporary exhibit for the summer.

The 1904 World’s Fair Exhibit

This was probably my favorite exhibit at the Missouri History Museum. It is a beautiful exhibit and is full of interesting artifacts from the era of the World’s Fair. I especially loved all of the artwork and paintings. I also learned that the 1904 World’s Fair was to celebrate the one-hundredth anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase, which I thought was interesting.

#1 in Civil Rights – The African American Freedom Struggle in St. Louis

This was a very interesting exhibit showing the history involving St. Louis civil rights movement and how the city fought for racial justice. It opened up some interesting conversations with my kiddos.
