The Cheshire Inn\u00a0is a beautiful, family-friendly hotel located in of St. Louis.\u00a0It’s close proximity\u00a0to parks, museums, and the St. Louis Zoo\u00a0makes it the perfect place to stay while visiting the\u00a0city of Cardinal pride.<\/p>\n

Overall Experience at The Cheshire<\/h3>\n
It is difficult (maybe impossible?) to find a nice, relaxing hotel that parents enjoy that is also kid-friendly. But that is exactly what we found at The Cheshire Inn\u00a0in St. Louis. The Cheshire\u00a0is a boutique hotel full of character and charm with amenities to please both adults and children.<\/p>\n
Sometimes, our family has a difficult time deciding if we want to have a relaxing vacation or an adventurous vacation. We found that, at The Cheshire Inn, we could do a little of both. \u00a0Our\u00a0room\u00a0was quiet and cozy. There were several sitting areas throughout the inn that were perfect for reading a book and relaxing. The hotel also has 3 on-site restaurants, a Starbucks, and they even offer room service. You honestly would never have to leave if you didn’t want to! \u00a0 At the same time, The Cheshire is steps from parks, museums, and the zoo. It is only a short drive to The Arch and other St. Louis attractions. While staying at The Cheshire,\u00a0we could\u00a0do as much or as little as we wanted!<\/p>\n
I also\u00a0have to say that each member of the staff at The Cheshire Inn was very friendly and accommodating. They always took time to speak to me and\u00a0my kiddos\u00a0and they would ask about our stay. And they were very hospitable. I think they played a big part in making this trip such a memorable experience for our family.<\/p>\n

The Rooms<\/strong><\/p>\n
The Cheshire Inn has recently been remodeled and each room is themed and named after a famous British author, playwright, or poet. We were in room 102 – The Ann Radcliffe Suite. Our room even had a copy of her book A Sicilian Romance<\/em> in our room.<\/p>\n
I have to say the beds were very comfortable and we slept very well here. It was so nice to come back to a comfy\u00a0bed after a long day of sight-seeing.<\/p>\n
Our room had a Keurig coffee maker in our room with coffee, tea, creamer, and sweeteners. We were also given two bottles of water each day in our rooms, which was very nice.<\/p>\n

Clayton Courtyard<\/h3>\n
The Clayton Courtyard is the perfect spot to enjoy a great meal and play a giant game of chess.\u00a0You can order food from Fox &\u00a0Hounds<\/strong><\/a><\/em> (or any of Cheshire’s restaurants<\/strong><\/a><\/em>) and have your meal outside in the courtyard. The Royal Kids\u00a0Club<\/h3>\n
The Cheshire Inn<\/strong><\/em><\/a> hosts a pirate-themed treasure hunt with Captain Barnaby. My kiddos loved roaming the halls of the Cheshire (which they thought was a castle because of the British D\u00e9cor), looking for clues.<\/p>\n
At the end of the treasure hunt, the kiddos became members of The Royal Kids Club. They received a backpack full of goodies (coloring book, crayons, chocolate gold coins, etc.). \u00a0You can read more about The Royal Kids Club HERE<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

British D\u00e9cor<\/h3>\n
When we first walked into the Cheshire, we felt like we had entered into another country. We felt like we were in an English Manor. This hotel has an old-world feel with it’s beautiful,\u00a0stained-glass windows and antique furniture and fixtures.<\/p>\n
The Cheshire Inn has done a fantastic job of blending contemporary and historic decor. The rooms were renovated to have a more modern feel while the rest of the common areas are decorated with eighteenth-century antiques. It is a nice, eclectic mix of both worlds.<\/p>\n

This room also has puzzles, games, magazines, and newspapers for the guests to enjoy.\u00a0I also saw a few people working on their laptops (The Cheshire offers free Wi-fi).<\/p>\n

After a long morning at the St. Louis Zoo, we headed back to The Cheshire for a swim in the pool. Afterwards, we walked over to Starbucks for some drinks and warm chocolate chip cookies.<\/p>\n
Since we were so tired,\u00a0we snuggled up in our comfy beds and watched cartoons while we rested. The Cheshire has several kid-friendly channels like the Cartoon Network and the Disney Chanel. They also offer free Wi-Fi.<\/p>\n

Bike & Kites<\/h3>\n
Forest Park<\/strong><\/em><\/a> is within walking distance of The Cheshire,\u00a0and the hotel offers bicycles for the use of their guests. Bikes and Helmets are complimentary for up to 3 hours. Just speak to someone at the front desk.\u00a0 You can also ask about kites for the kids to borrow and fly in Forest Park.<\/p>\n

The Cheshire offers a\u00a0complimentary 24\/7\u00a0 coffee and tea service. I really enjoyed the coffee from\u00a0Kaldi\u2019s, a Missouri roaster. There is also a nice variety of herbal teas with mini honey jars and other sweeteners available all day.<\/p>\n
Guests are also welcome to help themselves to the 24\/7 ice water and lemonade station (with a bowl of fruit). It is also complimentary for all hotel guests.<\/p>\n

Breakfast options include open face English Muffin sandwiches, hash browns, and sausages. My favorites were the fresh fruit and the cheesy eggs!<\/p>\n

As we walked down the steps to Basso (a basement gastro pub) we could smell the sweet scent of the wood fire. It was heavenly!<\/p>\n
In addition to wood-fired pizzas, Basso serves Italian-inspired dishes with a creative twist. Everything we tried here was fresh and delicious! Basso also has happy hour specials and has a variety of Italian wines.<\/p>\n
We were also happy that we received 20% off our entire check because we were staying at The Cheshire!<\/p>\n

I ordered the Sherwood Summer Bistro Salad at Fox &\u00a0Hounds and it was the best salad I’ve ever had! It had field greens, honey cured bacon, goat cheese, dried cherries, peppered pecans, and grilled chicken. It’s topped with two eggs, over easy. This salad was fantastic!<\/p>\n

If you don’t feel like going out, the Fox and Hounds restaurant\u00a0provides room service! They also serve food for anyone wanting to eat outside in the Courtyard.<\/p>\n

–Boundary<\/strong><\/h3>\nBoundary <\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0is located adjacent to The Cheshire and their menu consists of dishes that put\u00a0a modern twist on comfort food. In addition to being\u00a0open for lunch and dinner, Boundary offers happy hour during the week and a brunch on the weekends.<\/p>\n

This is the largest and coziest Starbucks I’ve ever seen. There are several seating areas and even a fireplace inside and plenty of outdoor seating. The menu offers many drink options, desserts, and sandwiches. Starbucks\u00a0is also a great place to grab a quick snack.<\/p>\n

Nearby Family-Friendly Activities<\/strong><\/h3>\n
I think St. Louis is a great city to visit with the kids. There are so many family-friendly activities in this city! In addition to being a lot of fun, the many of the city’s activities are FREE (St. Louis Zoo, Missouri History Museum, St. Louis Art Museum, Citygarden, Forest Park, Grant’s Farm…all FREE).<\/p>\n

Activities near The Cheshire:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n
\u00a0 The St. Louis Galleria<\/strong><\/em><\/a> is just a few minute’s drive from the hotel (as well as a Target, Whole Foods, Qdoba, and more).<\/li>\n
Hi-Pointe Theater<\/strong><\/em><\/a> – an adorable,\u00a0little theater from the 1920\u2019s<\/li>\n
Forest Park<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is within walking distance\u00a0from The Cheshire. This park\u00a0is home to the St. Louis Zoo<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, Missouri History Museum<\/strong><\/em><\/a>,The St. Louis Art Museum<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, The Jewel Box, and the World’s Fair Pavilion.<\/li>\n
The St. Louis Arch<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, City Museum<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, Citygarden<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, the St. Louis Science Center<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, Busch Stadium<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, and the St. Louis Botanical Gardens<\/strong><\/em><\/a> are a short drive from the Cheshire.<\/li>\n

When we were in St. Louis, I took the kiddos to the zoo, City Museum, Citygarden, the science museum…and do you know what they told me was their favorite part of our vacation? \u00a0The treasure hunt at The Cheshire<\/strong><\/em><\/a>! In addition to the treasure hunt, they\u00a0also loved swimming in the pool! \u00a0We all definitely enjoyed our stay here!<\/p>\n
