This 4-mile (round-trip) trail&nbsp;is paved&nbsp;and is a pretty easy walk since the trail is level. It is a one-way trail and doesn&#8217;t loop. Gatlinburg Trail has very little elevation and isn&#8217;t as exhausting as other hikes. Families love the gorgeous scenery as they walk along the Little Pigeon River. The trail runs in a circle and takes about an hour to complete. It offers some of the most gorgeous country scenery you&#8217;ll see in the Smokies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/virginiatrailguide.com\/2013\/06\/13\/alum-cave-bluffs-trail-to-mount-leconte\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Alum Cave Trail to Mount LeConte<\/a><\/strong> (11 miles) &#8211; This trail is the most popular hike in the Smokies. It is 11 miles and is considered difficult. As you hike, you will find several places to stop along the way. There are waterfalls, swimming holes, and even a cave (Alum Cave) with steps to climb. Some of the hiking trails have steep inclines, but there are also many flat spots. Most of the trails&nbsp;are shaded. The ascent on the Alum Cave Trail is strenuous, but the descent is&nbsp;relatively&nbsp;easy. This hiking trail takes about 30 minutes to complete and can be used in both directions. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/grsm\/planyourvisit\/roaringfork.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Roaring Fork Nature Trail<\/a><\/strong> (5.5-mile loop) &#8211; Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a 5.5-mile-long, one-way, loop road. Roaring Fork is one of the larger and faster-flowing mountain streams in the park.&nbsp;See this mountain stream as well as forest,  log cabins, gristmills, and other historic buildings. P. S. The road is closed in winter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/smokymountains.com\/park\/hikes\/cataract-falls-hike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Cataract Falls<\/a><\/strong> (1 mile) &#8211; Cataract Falls trail is less than ten minutes from downtown Gatlinburg. The trail is only 3\/4 mile (roundtrip) and is considered easy. It is a great &#8220;hike&#8221; for families with young children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alltrails.com\/trail\/us\/tennessee\/elijah-oliver-place-trail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Elijah Oliver\u2019s Place Trail<\/a><\/strong> (1 mile) &#8211; Located on the Cades Cove Loop, this trail is considered easy. It takes you to Elijah Oliver&#8217;s Place. The one-mile roundtrip hike is the most remote historical building on Cades Cove Loop. The trail and scenery offer visitors a rare glimpse of what life was like on an Appalachian pioneer homestead.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/grsm\/planyourvisit\/chimneys-alternative-rainbow-falls.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Rainbow Falls Hike<\/a><\/strong> (&nbsp;2.7 miles one way) &#8211; This trail is very popular but is considered strenuous. The first mile goes along LeConte Creek. Then you see lovely greenery\/flowers (rosebay rhododendron, teaberry, and mountain pepper-bush grow). After crossing a few bridges, you will come to the beautiful 80-foot Rainbow Falls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Drive <a href=\"https:\/\/smokymountains.com\/drives\/little-river-road\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em><strong>Little&nbsp;River Road<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>by the Little River. Feed the ducks and take a few photos in this lovely area. The road actually spans 18 miles, beginning at Sugarland&#8217;s Visitor Center and ending at Cades Cove. This trail is 2.6 miles round-trip. Most of this hike is uphill, but the incline is gradual. The hike usually takes about 2-3 hours. It all depends on how much time you decide to spend at the waterfalls and checking out the scenery.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hikinginthesmokys.com\/chimney.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Chimney Top Trail<\/a><\/strong> &#8211;  (4 miles) <span style=\"font-size: var(--wp--preset--font-size--medium); color: initial;\">Chimney Tops Trail is about 4 miles round-trip and&nbsp;is located&nbsp;at Newfound Gap Road. The trail is short, but it can be challenging with its steep, rock steps.<\/span>  <span style=\"font-size: var(--wp--preset--font-size--medium); color: initial;\">From the top, you will see the most beautiful, panoramic views.<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: var(--wp--preset--font-size--medium); color: initial;\">Just&nbsp;keep in mind that the last 1,000 feet are a&nbsp;<\/span><em style=\"font-size: var(--wp--preset--font-size--medium); color: initial;\"><strong>climb<\/strong><\/em><span style=\"font-size: var(--wp--preset--font-size--medium); color: initial;\">. Many seasoned hikers can&#8217;t complete the last 1,000 steps. But, don&#8217;t worry, the trip back down is much easier!<\/span> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alltrails.com\/trail\/us\/tennessee\/metcalf-bottoms-trail?utm_source=awin&amp;utm_medium=affiliate&amp;awc=29239_1688867446_85df40604ab4cf9a89719dc39e65cff9&amp;cks=29239_1688867446_85df40604ab4cf9a89719dc39e65cff9&amp;af_c_id=ljus2l87p303mefq0pkzt&amp;pid=affiliatewindow_int&amp;is_retargeting=true&amp;af_click_lookback=30d&amp;af_media_type=web&amp;af_reengagement_window=30d&amp;af_siteid=85386&amp;c=awin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Metcalf Bottoms Trail<\/a><\/strong> (1.5 miles) &#8211; This hike is fairly easy, only takes about 40 minutes to complete, and is very popular for walking, hiking, and running.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alltrails.com\/trail\/us\/tennessee\/laurel-falls--2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Laurel Falls Trail<\/a><\/strong> (2.4 miles) &#8211;  At the halfway point, you can see the 80-foot-high Laurel Falls. At the waterfall, there are some natural wading pools that the kids will love. This hike is perfect for families since it is a short, easy hike.&nbsp;The trail is&nbsp;paved but bringing a stroller is not recommended. The trail&nbsp;begins at a parking lot on Little River Road at the top of Fighting Creek Gap.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" Grill&nbsp;Steakhouse<\/a>&nbsp;<\/u><\/strong><\/em>in Gatlinburg offers a sophisticated <a href=\"https:\/\/parkgrillgatlinburg.com\/our-menu\/kids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em><strong>children&#8217;s menu and offers a variety of children&#8217;s &#8220;Daiquiris&#8221;.<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Have a nice filling brunch&nbsp; (on the weekends)&nbsp;at <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cherokeegrill.com\/location\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cherokee Grill<\/a><\/strong><\/em>. Or visit for lunch or dinner and order the kids some ribs (and get some for yourself too!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nowayjosescantina.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">No Way Jose&#8217;s <\/a><\/strong> Cantina is located in Gatlinburg near Ripley&#8217;s Aquarium and is one of our favorite restaurants in the Smoky Mountains. (There is also one in Pigeon Forge, but we always seem to end up at the one in Gatlinburg). The chips are light and crispy and the salsa is fresh and chunky &#8211; YUM! I have enjoyed everything that I have tried at No Way Jose&#8217;s. The last time we were there, I ordered pulled pork street tacos and they were fantastic.
